In case you didn’t feel there was enough Superhero movies coming out in the first half of 2016 there is one more to keep an eye on. X-Men Apocalypse has just released its official trailer. Unlike the upcoming Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice or Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War, X-Men Apocalypse will take a traditional approach to the Superhero Genre posting Hero Mutants the X-Men against the ancient and deadly mutant Apocalypse played by Oscar Issac.
This sequel to 2014’s time travelling outing X-Men: Days of Future Past has Apocalypse reawaken after thousands of years to lead super-powered mutants. In his hope of leading the mutants he enlists the Four Horsemen, a band of franchise regulars including Magneto (Michael Fassbender) and Storm (Alexandra Shipp). There are also new mutants Psylocke (Olivia Munn) and Angel (Ben Hardy) to round out the group of Apocalypse’s henchmen.
The trailer provides us with scenes of worldwide chaos as Apocalypse decimates buildings and flattens cities in his path of destruction. The trailer is highly visual and shows off some of the CGI delight that X-Men Apocalypse will bring to the table. From the trailer this looks like an X-Men movie on an epic scale to compete with the other offerings by Marvel and DC Comics this year.
In all of sheer scale of destruction comes our heroes standing united against the god Apocalypse and his Four Horsemen. Lead by Professor Xavier the team of outcast mutants, will need to fight to save mankind secure their future on earth. Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence) plays a large role in the trailer as she gives orders to her team of X-Men. Staffed by such fresh-faced members as Jean Grey (Sophie Turner), Cyclops (Tye Sheridan), and Quicksilver (Evan Peters). But will be able to stop Apocalypse from destroying society as we know it.
