Ben-Hur is a classic 1959 film about a prince turned slave who seeks vengeance and at last we have the first trailer from this summer’s reboot. Ben-Hur has long been in development as a reboot has been on the cards for a while but now we can finally see the Ben-Hur trailer in action.
The original Ben-Hur starred Charlton Heston in one of his most famous roles but the titular character this time around goes to Jack Huston. Ben-Hur is the epic story of Judah Ben-Hur a prince turned slave by his adopted brother played by Tony Kebbell. Ben-Hur is falsely accused of treason and stripped of his title in the Roman army. Judah is forced into slavery and after living for years at sea he returns to his homeland in search of revenge against his brother.
The trailer picks out some of the key moments from the original to show off its all new cast and style. Including Judah out at sea as a slave as well as his escape providing an overall view of the film.
The original Ben-Hur is famous for its portrayal of chariot racing as the brothers settle their differences through the barbaric sport in biblical-era Rome. This looks to have been kept for the latest version with the trailer highlighting some of the action-packed racing movie goers can expect this summer. There is a heavy use of CGI in the trailer as there is with most movies these days. Hopefully this does not spoil the realism of the chariot racing that made the original so grand in its execution. Ben-Hur also stars Morgan Freeman as Judah’s mentor, who trains him in preparation for the monumental race.
This latest adaption of Lew Wallace’s timeless novel, Ben-Hur: A Tale of the Christ looks set to bring this epic historical adventure back into the mainstream. Ben-Hur is due for release in August 2016. See the first trailer below:
